BIOgraphy

I was born and raised in Dublin, living in Tallaght with my folks and older brother. I always had an interest in performance since I was a kid. So as a teenager I did various courses for performing arts in The Gaiety School of Acting and NPAS (the National Performing Arts School). During this time, I was forming a keen interest in photography and also doing a lot of writing, something I would leave for a while and return to a number of years later.

After researching and applying for various courses in Acting for when I finished school, I auditioned for a few and got a place in The Liberties College (Bull Alley Theatre Training College). I did 4 years full time training there, which included acting, singing, dancing and taking part in many stage productions over the years in various theatres around Dublin. I then applied for further training across the pond in London drama schools, and got a place in Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts London doing a one year Post Graduate Course in Acting starting in 2008. After graduating in September 2009 I left London to return to Dublin in mid April 2010.

When I returned, feeling a bit deflated at having to return, things thankfully picked up as I reconnected with my previous contacts and applied for auditions and got roles in various plays soon after returning. Also I was asked by a Mountview friend if I’d be interested in helping a production she was working on while they’re in the Edinburgh Fringe. I jumped at the chance and spent 9 amazing days sleeping in a tiny hut we shared, right beside the airport runway, and enjoying the madness and delights offered by the Edinburgh Fringe during the day. As soon as I got back to Dublin, I started rehearsing “The Merchant of Venice” with Devise+Conquer Theatre Company playing the role of Portia. The production was revived in early 2011 and played in The Complex in Smithfield to great crowds, and I received my first review.

There's a lot of keen intelligence at work here, too, never so apparent as in the portrayal of Portia (Susan Barrett). She has all the wooers sussed and dismisses them with callous expediency. She’s every inch the barrister, with a forensic nimbleness of mind, cutting to the chase at breakneck pace, her delivery almost convincing us that her thought-processes move at the speed of light. Her management of the wayward Bassanio in Act V is as efficient as her routing of Shylock in court. This is an actor to watch.” Derek West (Irish Theatre Magazine)

Irish Theatre Magazine Review for my portrayal of Portia in The Merchant of Venice

Since then, I have been in many, many more stage productions (the details of which you can see on my CV if you’re curious).

Now with numerous plays, commercials, short films, VO work and a feature film under my belt, I’m excited as always to face the next challenge in my career.
